Assistant Professor Position
The Department of Biological & Ecological Engineering invites you to apply for a

tenure track, Assistant Professor, position in the area of Agricultural Water Management.

The appointment for this position will be made in one of two ways, at the discretion of the Department Head:

1) Full-time 9-month appointment. Tenure track will be offered at 1.00 FTE. The appointee will be expected to generate grants and/or contracts for any appointment during the summer months.

2) Full-time 12-month appointment. Tenure track will be offered at 0.75 FTE. The appointee will be expected to generate 0.25 FTE in sponsored grants and/or contracts to raise their appointment percent to 1.00 FTE.

Applicants should at a minimum have an earned PhD in Agricultural Engineering, Biological Engineering or related degrees.

Responsibilities

The person in this position will focus on optimum irrigation planning and management. Central objectives will be increasing net farm income and reducing associated ecological impacts. The scope of the research may encompass the relationships between irrigation water use, crop yields, economic returns to the farm, and the hydrologic and ecologic dynamics of irrigation water use and return flows.  The successful candidate will be expected to develop a successful research and outreach program of national stature.

Teaching responsibilities may include: a graduate level course in optimum irrigation management and participation in undergraduate teaching in ecological engineering, possibly concentrating on the hydrologic and ecologic impacts of agricultural water use and return flows.

This position serves as the Oregon State Extension Specialist for Irrigation. In this capacity the individual should assume a leadership role in (i) developing advanced irrigation advisory services to support optimum irrigation management, and (ii) stimulating widespread use of such advisory services.

Qualifications    
Applicants should at a minimum have an earned PhD in Agricultural Engineering, Biological Engineering, or related degrees.  Additional qualifications include: understanding of agricultural water management, irrigation systems analysis, crop/water relationships, systems analysis and engineering, and ecohydrology. Commitment to working in multidisciplinary teams and excellent oral and written communication skills are required.  Preferred qualifications include a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
